For reliability & maintenance leaders in mining, aggregates, and bulk handling

Catch conveyor belt failures before they cost you thousands per hour.

BeltLens turns your iPhone into a belt inspection tool.Scan a running belt in minutes and get a full splice and defect risk report in your inbox within 24 hours.

No hardware to install.  No belt stoppage.  No guesswork.

We'll respond within 1 business day.

First belt free. Keep the report even if you never use us again.

How BeltLens works

In a recent copper mine pilot, this 6-minute scan surfaced tears, edge damage, and premature cracking manual rounds were missing, giving the team full visibility before their next planned shutdown.

Inspect every belt

Your trunk conveyor gets monitored. What about the other 90%?

Conveyor belt splices are the #1 failure point on mine, quarry, and plant belt systems. A single unplanned stoppage can cost tens of thousands of dollars per hour.Yet most sites still rely on walk-and-look inspections with no history, no trend data, and no early warning. By the time you see the problem, it's already costing you.Fixed monitoring systems exist, but at $50k-$200k per belt, they only make sense for your most critical trunk conveyors. The rest of your belts run blind.BeltLens fills that gap.A 5-10 minute scan with the iPhone already in your pocket, a simple mount, and an LED light is all the hardware you need. Mount your iPhone over the belt, enter basic belt details, and hit record. BeltLens analyzes the footage at operational speed and delivers a splice and defect inspection report directly to your inbox.You get:
• Every splice, tear, edge damage, and previous repair automatically detected and located;
• Condition ratings and risk scores so you can prioritize which belts to address first; and
• A historical record of each belt, so trends and developing failures are visible weeks in advance.
Instead of fire-fighting the next tear or splice failure, you can scan every belt on site and plan maintenance around data.

Improve conveyor reliability with evidence

Why BeltLens?

Safe, Reliable, Competitive Production.
Competitive production is inevitable when your operation is safe & reliable.
Reliability is a cause-and-effect game. Belt misalignment causes edge damage. Trapped foreign objects or seized idlers cause longitudinal tears. Material impact causes abrasion, gouges, and punctures. Each can be fixed if caught early.Move from reactive to predictive maintenance.
Detect degrading splices & defects before they fail. Reduce unplanned downtime and extend belt life.
Inspect every belt, not just the trunk.
Cover all your belts with one phone. No per-belt hardware installation. No belt stoppage.
A safer workplace.
A snapped splice can throw material, derail idlers, or injure personnel. Early detection means you fix it on your schedule, not an emergency.
Zero workflow burden.
Enter basic belt specs and hit record. Your belt is scanned at operational speed and an inspection report lands in your inbox. No software to learn.

About

I'm Burhan Terai, founder of BeltLens.I've spent the last 15 years building sensing and control systems for industrial environments. Most recently I was Product Manager for Payload Monitoring at Weir Motion Metrics, where I led a team of roboticists, hardware engineers, and software engineers building payload estimation systems for mining shovels.Two pieces of work directly shaped BeltLens.The first was a non-invasive, vibration-based load sensing method I invented for electric rope shovels. Field-tested at 97% accuracy and patented (US 20240068367A1). It taught me you can pull surprisingly precise measurements out of sensors that were never installed for that purpose, if you understand the physics.The second was an OEM-agnostic payload monitoring system for hydraulic shovels and excavators. We took it through User Acceptance Testing at a copper mine in Chile across 32 haul trucks and hit better than 98% accuracy against the weighbridge.Both projects ran on real mine sites. Both taught me the same lesson: any hardware you bolt onto a mining asset gets beaten up, ignored, or quietly removed. The systems that survive ask nothing of the site.That's why I started BeltLens.Most belts run blind because installing fixed monitoring on every belt doesn't pencil out: the capex, the install downtime, the headcount to maintain it. So the rest of the fleet runs to failure and the crew firefights.The camera in your pocket changes that. Nothing to install, no belt to stop, no new software to learn. We recently ran a 6-minute iPhone scan on a running belt at a copper mine and caught surface tears that were shortening belt life well before any splice failures.Based in Vancouver, BC's mining tech cluster. If you've got a belt you're worried about, or just want to talk shop, reach out.

Privacy Policy

Last Updated: Jun 25, 2026BeltLens is operated by Callosum AI Inc., a Canadian company. In short: we collect only what we need to inspect your belts and bill you: your footage, your account details, and basic scan data. We don't sell any of it. Here's exactly what that means.1. What We Collect
When you use the BeltLens app, website, or service, we collect:
- Account Info: your name and email, used to sign you in and send your inspection reports.
- Belt footage: the video you record in the app. We use it to generate your report.
- Scan details: the belt IDs and specs you enter, plus device data like location and timestamps, used to build your report.
- Payment info: handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card or banking numbers.
- Contact form: the name and email you send through our website, used to reply to you.
- Usage data: basic things like app version, device type, and crash reports, so we can keep the app running well.
2. Who We Share It With
Only what's needed to run the service:
- Cloud hosting: your footage, scan data, and reports live on Google Cloud, behind access controls.
- AI processing: your footage is analyzed by third-party AI services for splice detection and condition assessment. They're bound by confidentiality and data-protection obligations.
- Payments: Stripe handles all card payments under its own privacy policy.
- Legal: we'll only hand over data if the law requires it, and where we're allowed to, we'll tell you first.
3. Where It's Stored and How We Protect It
Your footage, scan data, and reports are stored on Google Cloud, in Canada (our home base) and the United States. Using the service means you agree to your data being processed in both countries.
We protect it with:
- encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest;
- access limited to authorized people; and
- secure cloud infrastructure.
4. Improving Our Models
We may use anonymized, aggregated data from your footage to make our detection more accurate. Before any of it is used for training, we permanently strip out everything that could identify you or your site: site name, company name, location, belt IDs, and any other metadata. Once that's done, it can't be traced back to you.
Don't want your data used this way? Email us and we'll exclude it from future training.5. How Long We Keep It
- Footage is deleted 90 days after we deliver your report. We keep it that long only so we can re-process or check quality if needed.
- Reports and account info stay as long as your account is active (plus a short period after, where the law requires it).
6. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask us to:
- correct personal data we hold about you;
- delete your account and everything tied to it; or
- stop using your data to improve our models (see Section 4).
7. Changes and Contact
If we make a meaningful change to this policy, the date at the top will reflect it. Contact us if you have any questions about your data.

Terms of Service

Last Updated: June 25, 2026These Terms govern your use of the BeltLens conveyor belt inspection service and app (the "Service"), run by Callosum AI Inc. By using the Service, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use it.1. The Service
BeltLens inspects conveyor belt splices. You capture belt footage in our iOS app; we process it in the cloud with AI-assisted splice detection; and we email you an inspection report identifying splice and defect locations, types, and condition ratings.
The AI assists with detection and condition assessment. It's a decision-support tool and does not replace professional engineering inspection or judgement.2. Your Account
You're responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential and for everything that happens under your account. Tell us right away if you spot any unauthorized use.
3. Payment and Free Scans
You buy individual scan reports through a Stripe payment link, and payment is due before we release the report.
We sometimes offer free scans at our discretion. They're covered by these same Terms, including the Disclaimer (Section 6) and Limitation of Liability (Section 7).If we fail to deliver a report because of a technical error on our end such as a processing failure, or footage lost after a successful upload, we'll either re-process the scan free or refund you in full. We don't refund based on disagreement with what the detection found or how a splice was rated.4. Your Data and Content
4.1 Your footage. You own all the footage and metadata you upload. By uploading, you give us a limited, non-exclusive licence to process, store, and analyze it so we can produce your report. Footage is a processing input; we don't return it as part of the deliverable.
4.2 Your reports. You own the inspection reports we generate, including the cropped splice and defect images, locations, condition ratings, and supporting analysis.4.3 Model improvement. We may use anonymized, aggregated data derived from your footage (like splice-detection patterns and condition classifications) to make our detection more accurate. Before any of it is used for training, we permanently strip out everything that could identify you or your site (site name, company name, location, belt IDs, and any other metadata). Email us if you would like to exclude your data from future training.4.4 Storage, retention, and confidentiality. We treat your footage, metadata, and reports as confidential. For exactly how and where we store your data, how long we keep it, and who we share it with, see our Privacy Policy.5. Your Responsibilities
You're responsible for:
- capturing footage safely and in line with your site's safety procedures;
- giving us accurate belt metadata (belt speed, length, and other scan parameters). Inaccurate metadata will affect detection quality;
- having the right to capture and upload footage from the site;
- reviewing every report and applying professional judgement before making maintenance decisions based on it; and
- keeping up proper safety practices regardless of what a BeltLens report says.
6. Disclaimer
Please read this section carefully.
BeltLens uses AI to detect conveyor belt splices and assess their condition. You need to understand its limits:- AI detection isn't infallible. The Service can miss splices/defects (false negatives) or flag non-splice/defect features as splices/defects (false positives).
- Condition ratings are estimates. The green/amber/red ratings are AI-generated assessments based on visual analysis, not a substitute for professional engineering inspection.
- Reports are decision-support tools, not engineering certifications. Use them to inform and prioritize maintenance. They are not to be used as the sole basis for safety-critical decisions.
- Environmental factors affect results. Image quality, lighting, belt speed, dust, and other conditions can all affect accuracy.
- You must apply professional judgement. Always have qualified personnel review and validate the findings before acting on them.
We design the system to err on the side of caution: when it's uncertain, it rates a splice's condition as worse rather than better.BeltLens does not warrant that its reports are complete, accurate, or fit for any particular purpose. The Service supplements professional belt inspection. It does not replace it.7. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent the law allows:
(a) Your sole remedy. Our total liability for any claim arising from or related to the Service is limited, at our option, to either re-processing the affected scan(s) at no charge or refunding the fees you paid for them. This is your sole and exclusive remedy.(b) No indirect damages. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of production, loss of revenue, equipment damage, or personal injury, arising from your use of or reliance on the Service or its reports.(c) Specific exclusions. We are not liable for any damage, loss, or injury resulting from:
- splices or defects the Service doesn't detect;
- inaccurate condition ratings;
- decisions made on a report without independent professional verification; or
- footage-quality issues caused by environmental conditions, equipment, or capture technique.
(d) What we can't exclude. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that can't be limited under applicable law, including liability for fraud or wilful misconduct.8. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- use the Service for any unlawful purpose;
- upload footage you don't have the right to capture or share;
- reverse-engineer, decompile, or try to extract the detection models or algorithms;
- resell or redistribute the Service without our written permission; or
- interfere with the Service or its infrastructure.
9. Service Availability
We aim for reliable, timely service but don't guarantee uninterrupted availability. Processing times may depend on video length, queue volume, and system capacity. We may suspend or modify the Service for maintenance or operational reasons, and we'll give reasonable notice of planned downtime where we can.
10. Our Intellectual Property
The BeltLens app, processing algorithms, detection models, and report templates are the intellectual property of Callosum AI Inc. These Terms don't grant you any rights to them beyond using the Service as described. Your footage, metadata, and the content of your reports stay yours.
11. Term and Termination
These Terms apply for as long as you use the Service.
You can stop anytime. There's no minimum commitment for per-scan purchases. We may suspend or end your access if you breach these Terms or don't pay for services rendered; where practical, we'll give you written notice and a reasonable chance to fix the problem first.After termination, your reports stay accessible for 30 days, after which we may delete your data. Sections 4.3, 6, 7, 10, and 13 stay in effect after termination.12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We'll tell active customers about material changes by email, and continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the update.
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia, Canada, and any disputes fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the British Columbia courts.
14. The Fine Print
- Claims window. Any claim arising from or related to the Service must reach us in writing within 12 months of when you became aware (or should reasonably have become aware) of the facts behind it.
- Force majeure. Neither party is liable for failure or delay caused by events beyond reasonable control such as natural disasters, government acts, internet or telecom failures, cloud outages, pandemics, and the like. This doesn't excuse payment obligations.
- Severability. If a court finds any provision unenforceable, the rest stays in force and that provision is narrowed only as much as needed to make it enforceable.
- Waiver. If we don't enforce a provision, that's not a waiver of it or of our right to enforce it later.
- Entire agreement. These Terms are the whole agreement between you and Callosum AI about the Service and replace any prior agreements or understandings.
15. Contact
Please contact us with any questions about these Terms.
